Aquifer Management Services
Overview
The Aquifer Management Services Division houses the scientific and sustainability services of the EAA. This is accomplished through the Aquifer Science and Research, Modeling, Environmental Data Management, and Sustainability programs. The division is also responsible for the EAA Field Research Park.
Departments
Aquifer Science and Research
Research projects conducted to address questions directly related to the understanding and management of the Edwards Aquifer. Information collected through the program is used to expand our understanding of the aquifer and refine the conceptual model of the aquifer system.
Modeling
Conducts groundwater modeling using computer models developed specifically for the Edwards Aquifer and that are periodically refined through ongoing research related to the aquifer system.
Environmental Data Management
Collects and disseminates environmental data from continuous monitoring sites located throughout the Edwards Aquifer region; including groundwater wells, springs, streams, rain gauges, and weather stations.
Sustainability
Focused on protecting groundwater quality and quantity while enhancing sustainable use of the Edwards Aquifer.
Field Research Park
A 151-acre property for groundwater-related sustainability and aquifer behavior research where EAA staff are demonstrating and evaluating various land management practices and their potential effects on aquifer sustainability.
