District 15

Uvalde County

 

Bruce Gilleland

Bruce Gilleland is a resident of Uvalde County and represents District 15, which covers the eastern half of Uvalde County. His current term expires December 1, 2006. Gilleland serves on the board’s Aquifer Management Planning Committee and the Permits Committee.

Gilleland is a farmer and rancher in Uvalde County. He attended Southwest Texas State University where he studied agriculture.

Gilleland has also served on the Board of Directors of the Soil Conservation District in Uvalde County, and as director of the Texas Farm Bureau and the Uvalde County Co-op.

He has served three terms as director for the Farm Service Agency in Uvalde County.

Gilleland’s community involvement includes serving as 4-H Superintendent of the Uvalde County Stock Show and as a member of the Uvalde County 4-H Adult Leaders Association. He is also involved with the Texas Sheep, Goat, and Cattle Raisers Association and the National Corn Growers Association. Gilleland also served as a Uvalde athletic booster club director, Uvalde Little League and Senior League director and coach.

In 2003, Gilleland was honored as Volunteer of the Year for the family fair committee of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
