Recovery Implementation Program (RIP)
Authority Participates in Recovery Implementation Program
Article 12 of Senate Bill No. 3 enacted in 2007 included several important amendments to the Edwards Aquifer Authority Act, including the requirement for the Authority, with assistance from Texas A&M University, to participate with the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service (Service), state agencies and stakeholders in a Recovery Implementation Program (RIP) for the long-term consideration and protection of federally listed species associated with the Edwards Aquifer. The purpose of a RIP is to implement certain aspects of Service recovery plans for the target species and their associated habitats while allowing water development to continue in accordance with applicable state and federal law. The RIP meets monthly on the second Thursday at various locations. The Authority will post meeting notices and supporting material on our web site as we receive it.
