Fountain darter

During the drought of the 1950’s, the population of fountain darters in the Comal aquatic ecosystem was extirpated. In 1975, the species was reintroduced to the system when 457 fountain darters from the San Marcos aquatic ecosystem were released into the Comal Springs aquatic ecosystem. The reintroduced fountain darters have flourished in the Comal Springs aquatic ecosystem.
