Municipal Well Field This is a large capacity well, storage tower and infrastructure operated by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) for a municipal well field. This is one of several well fields located throughout the San Antonio area. These wells and others like them throughout the city supply water to San Antonio for many uses and more than 1,100,000 people in 2000. For the 10-year period of record (1994-2003), pumping for municipal purposes accounted for 61.6 % of groundwater pumped from the Edwards Aquifer.
