Edwards, Glen Rose Contact

Balcones faulting also gave rise to a change in relief across the fault zone.  This relief change induced downward erosion by streams in the area, as may be seen in this photograph. The cliff face is the result of downward erosion by the intermittent stream at the base of the picture. The streambed is located in the Glen Rose formation; however, the cliff face is the base of the Edwards Limestone. This photograph also provides an example of openings in the rock body that allow horizontal migration of water, as may be seen in the cliff face.
