Exposed Edwards Limestone A series of faults that initiated the formation of the Texas Hill Country, are located within the Balcones Fault Zone in south central Texas. This same fault zone effectively exposes the rocks that comprise the Edwards Aquifer at the earth’s surface. This area of exposed Edwards limestone is known as the recharge zone of the aquifer.
