Eosin Dye As part of the Authority’s Aquifer Science Program, staff perform tracer tests to determine groundwater velocities and flowpaths. Tracer tests are powerful tools that can be used to answer many questions regarding the role that faults play in controlling groundwater movement, the vulnerability of wells and springs to contaminants, and the relationship between the recharge zone, pumping and water wells. This photograph shows eosin dye being mixed before injection into the Panther Canyon well in Landa Park, New Braunfels, Texas in March 2002.
