The Texas Hill Country The Texas Hill Country portion of the Edwards Plateau, shown again in this photograph serves as a catchment or drainage area for precipitation and subsequent runoff water that flows to the Edwards Aquifer. This area is approximately 4,400 square miles in size, and is a critical component of Edwards Aquifer recharge.
