Comal Springs riffle beetle

An endangered species, these beetles are generally found near spring orifices of the Comal and San Marcos Springs aquatic ecosystems. They are also found in the loose rock and gravel substrates near the spring orifices. Water flow is important to survival of this species and therefore a severe reduction in spring flow leading to drying of the springs may be a limiting factor to their survival.
